Top-rated food equipment, seasonings, and marinade company in the food manufacturing powders/liquids industry seeks a skilled maintenance mechanic to join our team at our Signal Hill, California manufacturing plant. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of powder and liquid packaging lines, including baggers, auger fillers, inline filler, inline cappers, case sealers, conveyor systems, combi case erectors/drop packages, inline pressure-sensitive labelers, inkjet printers, and case printers. This position will also involve setting up and changeover of production lines to ensure efficient operation.
Schedules: 1st shift 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (hours may vary based on need)
Must have open availability and be able to work any shift, weekends, on occasion!
Pay Rate: $25.00-30.00 per hour – bi-weekly pay, full-time
Maintenance Mechanic responsibilities (this is not inclusive of all duties assigned)
Essential Functions:
- Maintain, install, repair, and troubleshoot packaging lines and processes equipment, including ribbon blenders and auger feeders.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks and inspections to ensure the equipment operates smoothly and efficiently.
- Building maintenance as needed.
- Identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address equipment issues and optimize production processes.
- Utilize electrical and mechanical skills to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions.
- Perform welding and metal fabrication tasks as needed. (This task is a plus)
- Ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Support the facility’s GMP, food safety, and food quality programs to assure compliance and achieve desired results.
- Review and complete maintenance reports and complete daily paperwork documentation.
- Must be able to handle and perform manual tasks.
- Communicate maintenance issues with other shifts to ensure continuity of operation.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electrical or mechanical fields preferred
- Proven experience in the maintenance and repair of packaging equipment, preferably in the food industry.
- Strong electrical and mechanical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery.
- Knowledge of PLCs, motors, drives, and control systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Good communication skills, follow-up and strong organization skills.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish. This is plus.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
